FIKOM UG HOLDS THE 2026 TRANSFER STUDENT ORIENTATION AND MULTICULTURAL SHARING SESSION TO STRENGTHEN ADAPTATION AND TOGETHERNESS
Hello, Fikomers!
The Faculty of Communication Sciences, Universitas Gunadarma, held the Transfer Student Orientation (PKMT) & Multicultural Sharing Session on September 26, 2026. This event was part of FIKOM UG’s efforts to welcome transfer students while introducing them to the campus environment, academic services, and student life at the Faculty of Communication Sciences, Universitas Gunadarma.
Through this event, students had the opportunity to become more familiar with the academic environment that will be part of their educational journey. The event also provided a platform for building interactions, expanding connections, and fostering a sense of togetherness among students from diverse backgrounds.
HELPING TRANSFER STUDENTS ADAPT TO THE CAMPUS ENVIRONMENT
Entering a new university environment is an experience that requires a period of adjustment. Every institution has its own learning system, academic regulations, facilities, and campus culture that students need to understand.
Through the Transfer Student Orientation, FIKOM UG provided students with an opportunity to gain an overview of academic life and various aspects of the learning process.
Understanding the campus environment is an important first step in helping students navigate their academic activities more effectively, recognize their responsibilities as university students, and make the most of personal development opportunities throughout their studies.
GETTING TO KNOW ACADEMIC SERVICES AND STUDENT LIFE
University life involves more than just attending classes. Students also need to understand the various academic services that support their educational journey.
The PKMT event provided an opportunity for students to become familiar with FIKOM UG’s academic environment and systems, equipping them with essential knowledge to begin their learning journey.
In addition, students were encouraged to establish effective communication with the academic community, develop independence, and participate in activities that support both their academic and non-academic development.
With a strong understanding from the beginning, students are expected to adapt more easily and make the most of their university experience.
MULTICULTURAL SHARING SESSION: LEARNING THROUGH DIVERSITY
One of the key highlights of the event was the Multicultural Sharing Session, which provided a platform for interaction and the exchange of perspectives on cultural diversity.
The university environment brings together students from different backgrounds, experiences, customs, and perspectives. This diversity creates opportunities to get to know one another, learn from each other, and develop a broader understanding of social life.
For Communication Studies students, the ability to understand cultural differences is an essential part of developing communication competencies. Every individual has a unique way of communicating, shaped by personal experiences and social environments.
Through the spirit of multicultural sharing, students were encouraged to develop openness, mutual respect, and positive communication across cultural differences.
BUILDING COMMUNICATION AND COLLABORATION IN THE ACADEMIC ENVIRONMENT
The ability to adapt and interact with people from diverse backgrounds is an important skill that students need to develop throughout their university years.
Through the PKMT & Multicultural Sharing Session, students were encouraged to deepen their understanding of the importance of communication, cooperation, and respect for diversity in creating a positive academic environment.
Interactions among students can also serve as the foundation for friendships and collaborative networks that provide benefits in learning activities, student organizations, and the development of various creative projects.
This spirit of togetherness aligns with the fundamental principles of Communication Studies, which emphasize understanding people, social relationships, and the exchange of meaning as essential elements of the communication process.
THE BEGINNING OF A JOURNEY TOWARD GROWTH AND ACHIEVEMENT
The 2026 Transfer Student Orientation & Multicultural Sharing Session was expected not only to provide students with an initial understanding of the campus environment but also to strengthen their readiness to begin their academic journey at FIKOM UG.
Every student has the opportunity to develop their potential, broaden their experiences, create meaningful work, and achieve academic and personal success through the learning process.
FIKOM UG hopes that all students will make the most of their university experience by continuing to learn, building positive relationships, confidently expressing their ideas, and developing skills that are relevant to the evolving world of communication.
