EQUIPPING STUDENTS WITH COMPETENCIES, THE FACULTY OF COMMUNICATION SCIENCES AT GUNADARMA UNIVERSITY HOLDS A FOCUS GROUP DISCUSSION FOR INDUSTRY NEEDS ANALYSIS

The rapid global changes brought about by the fourth industrial revolution have had a significant impact on society. While creating technological and economic advancements, this revolution also presents new challenges. Automation may replace human jobs in some industries, as it is considered more effective and efficient than human labor.

In an effort to address these challenges, the Faculty of Communication Sciences at Gunadarma University held a Focus Group Discussion (FGD) in Room Sector, Building 1, Level 1 of Campus E, Gunadarma University, conducted offline. This highly anticipated event featured presentations by four speakers from the industrial world, representing various large companies. The purpose of this event was to gain insights into current developments in the field of communication and to discuss curriculum updates and reviews to identify industry needs in the 4.0 era that will be studied by students.

The event was attended by the Chairman of Perhumas West Java, the Integration and Communication Head of Great Giant Food, Dr. Indra Ardiyanto S.T., M.Ikom., MIPR., CSRS, Wicaksono (Ndoro Kakung) as a Maverick PR, Indra Budiman as Brand Activation and Communication of ANTV, and Innocentia Magda S.I.kom., M.I.Kom as a digital marketer at PT. Mastersystem Infortama.

The Focus Group Discussion, which focused on analyzing industry needs and was attended by industrial practitioners and faculty members from the Faculty of Communication Sciences, provided valuable insights into the industrial world. It also contributed to curriculum updates that align with industry competencies.

Additionally, this Focus Group Discussion explored new opportunities in the job market within the industry. It is hoped that through curriculum review and updates, students will be better prepared to face the changes occurring in the 4.0 era with appropriate understanding and adaptation. Equipped with adequate competencies, students can positively navigate the rapid industrial revolution, guiding them toward a bright and innovative future.

WORKSHOP ON SER DOCUMENT PREPARATION FOR INTERNATIONAL ACCREDITATION FACILITATION GRANT PROGRAM – FIBAA

The Communication Science and Psychology study programs of Gunadarma University succeeded in obtaining an international accreditation facilitation grant from the Ministry of Education and Culture in July 2023. The Self Evaluation Report (SER) preparation workshop will take place on September 21-22, 2023 at Margo Hotel, Depok as a series of events carried out in the implementation of grant activities.

On the first day, the SER that has been made previously will be reviewed externally by Mr. Lukman Musa, M.I.Kom (UIN Suka Kalijaga Yogyakarta) for the Communication Science Study Program and internally by Mr. Prof. Dr. Ing. Adang Suhendra (Gunadarma University). On the next day, the initial workshop focused on the SER review of the Psychology study program externally from Mr. Haidar Buldan Thontowi, S.Psi., M.A., Ph.D. (Universitas Gadjah Mada) and internally by Mr. Dr. rer. Pol. Ir. Sudaryanto, MSc. IPU (Gunadarma University).
