MAKING FIKOM UG PROUD: VINI VALIZA SELECTED AS A GOOGLE STUDENT AMBASSADOR 2026

More exciting news comes from the students of the Faculty of Communication Sciences, Universitas Gunadarma. Vini Valiza, a FIKOM UG student from the Class of 2023, has been selected as a Google Student Ambassador 2026.
This achievement marks a valuable experience for Vini while highlighting the importance of having the courage to take opportunities, being creative, and adapting to developments in digital technology. Through a competitive selection process, Vini successfully earned the opportunity to become part of the Google Student Ambassador community.
GOING THROUGH A COMPETITIVE SELECTION PROCESS
Vini’s journey to becoming a Google Student Ambassador began with several stages of selection. She submitted her curriculum vitae (CV) and portfolio as part of the initial process to showcase her experience, skills, and previous activities.
The next stage involved a video interview uploaded to YouTube. During this process, Vini was required to answer four questions in a video approximately four minutes long. This challenge required not only the ability to communicate ideas clearly and concisely, but also creativity in presenting messages through digital media.
In addition, Vini participated in a creativity challenge using Gemini AI. This stage provided participants with an opportunity to demonstrate how artificial intelligence technology could be used creatively to develop ideas and content.
Out of more than 81,000 applicants from approximately 1,900 universities, around 2,000 participants were selected, with Vini among those who successfully made it through. This accomplishment is a source of pride and opens up new opportunities for her to continue developing her competencies.
DEVELOPING CREATIVITY WITH GEMINI AI
As a Google Student Ambassador, Vini will participate in various activities related to content development and the use of technology, including a series of challenges involving Gemini AI.
Over approximately three months, Vini will be challenged to produce around 20 pieces of content. These activities will provide opportunities to strengthen her ability to develop ideas, understand audience characteristics, craft effective messages, and utilize AI technology as part of the creative process.
For Communication Studies students, this experience is increasingly relevant. The development of AI has transformed the ways content is planned, produced, distributed, and consumed by audiences. Therefore, the ability to combine communication creativity with technological literacy has become an increasingly important competency.
BRINGING DIGITAL EXPERIENCES TO THE CAMPUS COMMUNITY
In addition to participating in content challenges, Vini will also have the opportunity to organize activities on campus with support from the Google Student Ambassador program.
This opportunity can serve as a platform to share experiences, introduce the use of technology to fellow students, and develop activities that encourage creativity and digital literacy.
In this way, the experience of becoming a student ambassador not only contributes to personal development but also creates opportunities to share knowledge and foster collaboration within the student community.
COMMUNICATION, CREATIVITY, AND TECHNOLOGY
Vini’s selection as a Google Student Ambassador demonstrates the increasingly close relationship between communication studies and technological development.
The ability to craft messages, speak confidently on camera, develop content, understand audiences, build engagement, and use Artificial Intelligence creatively represents a combination of competencies that is increasingly relevant within today’s digital communication ecosystem.
Technology will continue to evolve, but critical thinking, creativity, ethics, and an understanding of people as audiences remain essential foundations for every communicator.
HAVING THE COURAGE TO START AND LEARNING ALONG THE WAY
Vini’s journey carries an important message for Fikomers: we do not have to wait until we feel completely ready before taking an opportunity. Sometimes, the most valuable experiences begin when we have the courage to take the first step and continue learning throughout the process.
Such courage should be accompanied by consistency, a willingness to develop new skills, and openness to new experiences.
