Today, September 9, 2025, we celebrate National Sports Day (Haornas)—a meaningful moment that reminds us all that sports are not merely physical activities but also an essential part of a healthy lifestyle that supports happiness, productivity, and overall quality of life.

As expressed by Karmen Ayorbaba, Alumna of the Faculty of Communication Sciences, Universitas Gunadarma:

“A healthy body will help you stay more focused, motivated, and productive in your studies.”

This message is especially relevant for us, students who face tight academic schedules every day. With a healthy body, learning becomes more effective, concentration improves, and creativity flows more easily.

Sports Are Simple and Can Start Small

Many people think that sports must always mean heavy workouts at the gym or competitive activities. In reality, simple movements are enough to keep our bodies active. Some examples include:

• Walking to campus or during daily activities.
• Doing light stretching between study or work sessions.
• Playing football or engaging in fun sports with friends.

The key is consistency and enthusiasm. Dedicate just 15–30 minutes per day, because our bodies are designed to move.

Sports as a Lifestyle, Not Just a Routine

Sports should not be viewed as a temporary obligation, but rather as a way of life. Just like studying and working, regular physical activity builds discipline, fosters self-confidence, and maintains mental balance.

The Faculty of Communication Sciences, Universitas Gunadarma, is deeply saddened by the passing of one of our beloved students. On Thursday, August 28, 2025, Jeremi Soushen Sanjaya, a 2022 student of the Communication Studies Program, returned to the presence of God Almighty.

Jeremi’s passing leaves a profound sense of loss, not only for his family but also for his classmates, lecturers, and the entire academic community. He was known as a warm, diligent, and passionate student in his pursuit of knowledge. The many beautiful memories he created during his academic journey on campus will always be remembered with affection and respect.

On behalf of the Faculty of Communication Sciences, Universitas Gunadarma, we offer our sincere prayers: may all of Jeremi’s good deeds be accepted by Him, his sins forgiven, and may he be granted the best place in heaven.

To the bereaved family, may strength, patience, and resilience be bestowed upon you in facing this difficult time. This loss reminds us all to support one another, nurture solidarity, and spread kindness within our cherished academic community.

On Friday, August 22, 2025, the Faculty of Communication Sciences, Universitas Gunadarma, participated in the Workshop on the Use of Open Journal System (OJS) for Journal Management organized by the Universitas Gunadarma Publication Team. The event took place at Room F8555, Campus F8, from 09:30 AM to 03:00 PM (WIB), and was attended by journal managers from various faculties.

The workshop featured Dr. Uwes Fatoni, Supervisory Board Member of Relawan Jurnal Indonesia, as the keynote speaker. He shared his expertise and best practices in using OJS, ranging from system configuration to journal management strategies aligned with international standards.

The event was moderated by Dr. Dinda Rakhma Fitriani, manager of Mediakom: Jurnal Ilmu Komunikasi. As an experienced academic journal manager, her role as moderator enriched the discussions, making them more interactive and relevant to the participants’ needs.

Through this workshop, participants gained in-depth insights into:

• Utilizing OJS as a digital-based journal management platform.
• Enhancing efficiency and effectiveness in the editorial process.
• The importance of maintaining publication quality in accordance with reputable scientific standards.
• Strategies to advance journals toward national accreditation and international indexation.

With its practical approach, the workshop allowed participants to directly explore various OJS features, enabling them not only to understand the theory but also to acquire technical skills for professional journal management.

This event represents one of Universitas Gunadarma’s efforts to improve the quality of scientific publications while fostering the academic community’s contributions at both the national and international levels.

The Faculty of Communication Sciences, Universitas Gunadarma, extends its appreciation to the speaker, moderator, and all participants for their contributions. Sorrow has enveloped the academic community of the Faculty of Communication Sciences, Universitas Gunadarma. On Thursday, August 14, 2025, one of our finest students, Fahmi Sulaiman Baswedan, a 2018 class student of the Communication Studies Program, has returned to the mercy of Allah SWT.

His passing leaves a deep grief for the entire FIKOM UG family. Throughout his studies at Universitas Gunadarma, he was known as a kind, friendly individual with a strong passion for learning. His presence on campus always brought warmth and positive energy to fellow students and lecturers alike.

We extend our deepest condolences for his passing. May Allah SWT accept all his good deeds, forgive his sins, and grant him the best place by His side.

We also pray for strength, patience, and fortitude for the family he leaves behind in facing this trial. Losing a child, sibling, or friend is never easy, yet we hope the prayers and support from the entire FIKOM UG family can bring comfort.

The late Fahmi Sulaiman Baswedan will always be remembered as an integral part of the Faculty of Communication Sciences, Universitas Gunadarma. His footsteps, spirit, and kindness will forever live in our hearts.

The Faculty of Communication Sciences, Universitas Gunadarma, proudly extends its congratulations to Dr. Pipit Fitriyah, S.I.Kom., M.M., lecturer of the Undergraduate Communication Studies Program at Universitas Gunadarma, on her remarkable achievement in earning a Doctorate in Communication Science from Universitas Sebelas Maret with the distinction of Summa Cum Laude (Very Satisfactory).

This success was achieved after she successfully defended her dissertation entitled:

“Public and Government Discourse in Disaster Crisis Communication during Earthquakes in Indonesia: Actor-Network Analysis, Public Sentiment, and Government Communication Strategies.”

Her research provides an in-depth exploration of disaster crisis communication in the digital era. Through actor-network and public sentiment analysis, Dr. Pipit Fitriyah highlights how the interaction between the public and the government shapes crisis narratives, while also formulating government communication strategies that are more inclusive, participatory, and adaptive in the face of disasters.

Her findings make a significant contribution to the development of communication science, particularly in the field of disaster crisis communication. These insights are not only valuable for strengthening communication theories but also hold practical relevance for governments, media, and society in addressing communication challenges during emergencies.

This achievement stands as a testament to the dedication and commitment of an academic in advancing knowledge while providing benefits to the wider community. The Faculty of Communication Sciences, Universitas Gunadarma, hopes that this success will inspire students, lecturers, and the entire academic community to continue striving for excellence, contributing to the advancement of knowledge, and supporting the progress of the nation.
