COMMUNICATION STUDIES AS A FOUNDATION FOR CAREER DEVELOPMENT
During her studies at FIKOM UG, Andara acquired various knowledge and skills that later became valuable assets in her professional journey.
Competencies in communication, marketing communication, public speaking, negotiation, and crisis management are highly relevant to her current role. These skills help her communicate ideas effectively, understand the characteristics and needs of clients, build trust, and navigate the dynamics of business partnerships.
In the professional world, communication is not simply about the ability to speak. The ability to listen, read situations, understand the needs of others, and craft appropriate messages also plays an essential role in building sustainable business relationships.
THE ROLE OF COMMUNICATION IN BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT
As a Business Development professional, Andara plays a role in identifying and developing various business opportunities. This work requires the ability to connect the needs of prospective clients with solutions that the company can provide.
In carrying out her responsibilities, Andara is involved in a range of activities, including client prospecting, preparing proposals, delivering presentations, conducting negotiations, offering creative solutions, and building and maintaining relationships with clients.
Each process requires a different communication approach. In prospecting, for example, it is important to understand the characteristics of prospective clients and initiate communication appropriately. Meanwhile, during negotiations, the ability to communicate the value of an offer while understanding the interests of both parties becomes essential.

Business Development does not operate independently. Once client needs have been identified, coordination and collaboration with various internal teams are necessary to ensure that the proposed solutions can be delivered in accordance with the client’s needs and project objectives.
Throughout this process, interpersonal communication and teamwork are indispensable. Information obtained from clients must be clearly communicated to internal teams, while project developments must also be conveyed back to clients accurately and effectively.
The ability to manage this communication helps create alignment between client needs, team capabilities, and the company’s business objectives.
