PROF. DR. TUTI WIDIASTUTI, M.SI. PUBLISHES “MEDIA KOMUNIKASI KRISIS DAN REPUTASI”
Hello, Fikomers!
We are delighted to share another proud achievement from the academic community of the Faculty of Communication Science, Universitas Gunadarma. Prof. Dr. Tuti Widiastuti, M.Si. has published a book entitled Media Komunikasi Krisis dan Reputasi (Media, Crisis Communication, and Reputation). This scholarly work explores a vital field of communication studies, particularly the management of communication when organizations face crises and reputational challenges.
The publication of this book adds a valuable academic reference for understanding the complexities of crisis communication in an ever-changing media environment.
COMMUNICATION AS A KEY ELEMENT IN CRISIS MANAGEMENT
Crises can affect various types of organizations and arise in many different forms. In such situations, communication plays a strategic role, as the way an organization conveys information, responds to developments, and maintains relationships with the public can influence stakeholder perceptions and trust.
Media Komunikasi Krisis dan Reputasi discusses the importance of managing information during a crisis, including how organizations build trust, maintain relationships with different stakeholders, and manage their reputation amid uncertainty.
These issues have become increasingly relevant as organizations operate within a fast-moving communication environment that involves multiple media channels.
THE CHALLENGES OF CRISIS COMMUNICATION IN THE DIGITAL ERA
The development of digital media has transformed the nature of crisis communication. Information can circulate within seconds, public responses can emerge immediately, and an issue can rapidly develop into a widespread conversation across social media and other digital platforms.
This situation requires organizations to be well prepared in managing their communication. The need for a rapid response must be balanced with accurate information, transparency, message consistency, and a sound understanding of the characteristics of the publics involved.
Therefore, crisis communication concerns not only how an organization communicates when a problem occurs, but also how it builds and maintains trust before, during, and after a crisis.
REPUTATION AS A STRATEGIC ORGANIZATIONAL ASSET
Reputation is a valuable asset developed over a long period. Public perceptions of an organization are shaped by experience, information, organizational actions, and continuous communication.
When a crisis occurs, an organization’s reputation may come under considerable pressure. Its ability to manage communication becomes one of the factors determining how the public understands the situation and evaluates the response provided.
In this context, understanding the relationship between media, crisis communication, trust, and reputation is essential for students, academics, researchers, and communication practitioners.
ENRICHING COMMUNICATION STUDIES LITERATURE
The publication of Media Komunikasi Krisis dan Reputasi is expected to enrich the body of literature in communication studies and serve as a valuable reference for teaching and for the development of research on organizational communication, public relations, crisis communication, media, and reputation.
For students, the book offers new perspectives on applying communication concepts to organizational challenges. For academics and researchers, it may serve as a reference for further scholarly discussion and research. For practitioners, its discussion of crisis communication and reputation provides insights relevant to contemporary professional dynamics.
INSPIRING SCHOLARSHIP AND THE ADVANCEMENT OF KNOWLEDGE
Publishing an academic book is an important intellectual contribution to the advancement of knowledge. A scholarly work does more than present ideas; it also creates opportunities for readers to discuss, critically examine, further develop, and apply those ideas in various contexts.
The Faculty of Communication Science, Universitas Gunadarma, extends its warmest congratulations to Prof. Dr. Tuti Widiastuti, M.Si. on the publication of Media Komunikasi Krisis dan Reputasi.
May this work benefit students, academics, practitioners, and the wider community while inspiring the creation of more scholarly works that contribute to the advancement of communication studies in Indonesia.
Congratulations, Prof. Tuti! May you continue to produce meaningful work and inspire others through knowledge.
