In this edition of FIKOM CAREER, let’s get to know one of our inspiring alumni, Putri Wulandari, a 2018 graduate of the Faculty of Communication Sciences, Universitas Gunadarma (FIKOM UG), who is now pursuing her career as a Social Media Specialist at Kumon Indonesia.

In her role, Putri is responsible for developing social media content strategies, designing editorial calendars, and ensuring that every post consistently reflects Kumon’s brand voice. She also conducts performance and engagement analysis to understand audience preferences and enhance the reach of Kumon’s educational messages for parents and students across Indonesia.

The knowledge and skills she gained during her time at FIKOM UG have become a solid foundation in her professional journey. From storytelling and audience research to understanding digital trends and social media behavior, everything she learned helps her create content that is educational, relevant, and impactful.

Unfortunately, many people still think that listening is a passive act: staying silent, nodding, or just waiting for their turn to speak. In reality, listening is an active skill that requires full attention, empathy, and awareness of the message being conveyed by the speaker.

What Is Active Listening?

Active listening means you truly focus on the speaker, not only on their words but also on their tone, facial expressions, and body language. You don’t just hear what is being said; you try to understand why it is being said.

By practicing this skill, you can:

Every year on October 28, the Indonesian people commemorate the historic moment of the Youth Pledge (Sumpah Pemuda), which this year marks its 97th anniversary. The Youth Pledge is not merely a ceremonial remembrance, but a powerful symbol of the determination and spirit of Indonesia’s young generation in upholding unity, one motherland, one nation, and one language: Indonesia.

The commemoration of Youth Pledge Day 2025 serves as a reminder for all young generations, including the academic community of the Faculty of Communication Sciences, Universitas Gunadarma (FIKOM UG), to continue fostering the spirit of brotherhood, collaboration, and nationalism amid the increasingly digital and global dynamics of today’s era.

The Inauguration and National Working Meeting of the Central Board of the Association of Indonesian Communication Science Higher Education Institutions (ASPIKOM) for the 2025–2029 period was successfully held at Universitas Sahid, Jakarta, on October 16–17, 2025. This event marked a strategic moment for Indonesia’s communication academia community to strengthen synergy in facing the challenges and opportunities of communication in the rapidly evolving digital era.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by representatives from various universities affiliated with ASPIKOM, including the Faculty of Communication Sciences, Universitas Gunadarma (FIKOM UG), which actively participated in the event. During the national forum, all participants agreed to strengthen the role of higher education institutions in building an ethical, innovative, and collaborative communication ecosystem.

FIKOM UG’s Role in Fostering Academic and Industry Collaboration

The participation of the Faculty of Communication Sciences, Universitas Gunadarma, reflects the institution’s commitment to ASPIKOM’s vision, to bridge collaboration among academics, practitioners, and the communication industry.
